SSCHERTZ POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgency🚨 Burglary of a Motor Vehicle Arrest 🚨 On 1/23/2024 at approximately 12:53 a.m., officers responded to the Sycamore Drive and Smokey Creek intersection for a suspicious male wearing an orange jumpsuit trying to break into vehicles. The concerned citizen advised dispatch that they also saw a white SUV in the area and believed the two were together. Officer Garza arrived in the area and located the vehicle. A preliminary license plate check revealed the vehicle was stolen. Officer Garza attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled southbound on Savannah Dr. Officers Garza and Fahnert lost contact with the suspect vehicle and the pursuit was ended. Nonetheless, both officers continued to search the immediate area for the suspect vehicle and eventually located it. Officer Garza again attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and the suspect vehicle fled. The fleeing vehicle intentionally rammed into Officer Fahnert’s vehicle in the 200 block of Savannah Dr. (located in Selma), which was stationary in the roadway, causing both vehicles to be inoperable. The driver, a 15-year-old male, and the passenger, Diamond Gutierrez (17 years old), were taken into custody. Both suspects were transported to a local hospital to be evaluated and released. Officer Fahnert was also assessed and received minor injuries to his right wrist, left hand, right knee, and ankle. He was treated and released at a local Emergency Clinic. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center, and suspect Gutierrez was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail. Both subjects were charged with Burglary of a Motor vehicle, and the juvenile operator of the vehicle was also charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The suspect, believed to be wearing the orange jumpsuit, was not located. A freshly stolen vehicle, which had become inoperable, was later located abandoned in the 1000 block of Boxer Pass, and we believe this suspect is also involved in this offense. Many thanks to our community members who reported the suspicious activity. If you live in the Ashley Place subdivision or the Savannah Drive area and have security cameras, look at your videos. If you see anything suspicious on the video, contact us at 210-619-1200 and make a report. 𝐈𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞. We have been experiencing a rash of Burglary of Motor Vehicle offenses where many of the vehicles are left unlocked, and several have even had a firearm stolen. This type of crime is one of opportunity, and many such crimes can be alleviated if you remember to take your keys, hide your property, and lock your vehicle.24Like8
